The Office of Professional Development exists to support component districts in planning and implementing the highest caliber of research-based staff development and program implementation to meet the New York State Standards. Our assistance is provided in one of three ways:

  • Professional Development Workshops are designed to provide educators with knowledge and skills that will improve student achievement. Our staff development specialists are committed to ensuring that workshops provide practical, hands-on techniques and strategies that are research-based AND that teachers and other professionals can tailor to their current and future needs.

  • District-based Services assist districts in designing customized curriculum work or district planning, in specialized training for particular groups, or in-school or district-wide support for change efforts.

  • Regional Professional Development provides coordination and state funding for multi-district activities designed to strengthen instruction, raise standards, improve curriculum and assessment practices, and build capacity. Activities may include professional staff development, curriculum development and adaptation, assessment practices, and planning designed to meet Regents' initiatives.
